I have come to realize in my walk with the Lord that there are certain things that are common to all believers. There is an ongoing need in the body of Christ for encouragement, physical and emotional healing, fellowship, a sense of belonging, and hope for the future. I love to see God move in people’s lives. He is a good, good Father and He loves to bless His sons and daughters. I have been the recipient of His favor and goodness all my life and I know many of you can attest to the same. As a prophet who encourages, it can be frustrating at times when we see the REAL need that most cannot see. Our REAL need is to move beyond our own needs. Neediness can be all consuming. It cries for answers and postures us to remain earthbound. It has a sound that demands attention. I understand it all too well. I experienced years of bondage and selfishness, lack of fathering, and a lack of security that imprisoned me for years. My Jesus became the answer to all my needs. I set up camp there for a very long time. I could not escape myself. “Help me, heal me, provide for me, I want, I need.” I would worship for a word, praise for a feeling, fast for direction, and read the word to find my answer. I soon realized I had become what I thought I was delivered from: self-centeredness. But this time it seemed acceptable because Jesus meets all our needs. And He does. I will never underestimate the power of the cross and all that God has done for our healing and deliverance. But there is more. The more is awaiting us. We have been given an invitation just as John was. Revelation 4:1 says, “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven, and the voice I first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this.’ At once I was in the spirit and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.” The remainder of that chapter goes on to describe the flashes of lightning, rumblings, and thunder, the seven lamp stands, which were blazing, the seven spirits of God, the crystal sea, and the four living creatures. Their cry was in unison. “ Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” They fell down before the throne and worshiped him and laid their crowns before him. He alone was the center of their attention. We are changed and transformed In His presence. He alone is the object of our affection. All eye gates behold the beauty of our God. Something happens when we are caught up into the realm we came from and will return to. The things of this world and our temporal needs seem so small and insignificant. The invite is to all sons and daughters. He is no respecter of persons. We were born to live in another kingdom. Remember what Jesus said? “My kingdom is out of this world.” His thoughts were of another time and place. Yes, we can get to a place in God where we are delivered from ourselves. Galatians 2:20 reminds us, “It is no longer I who live …” My advice to you in all of this is to simply come to the Lord with no agenda. Find real freedom. There are places in His presence and His glory that are more transformative than anything I have experienced in this life. Move away from your personal needs knowing that He has already promised us temporal care and security in this life. Deep abiding trust is a beautiful way to journey through this life.
